We do not operate as a storefront, but as a gallery space. The pieces on display are for your inspiration. If you wish, we will gladly custom make a replica to fit your space!

Who designs your work?

Weather you come to us with a specific plan, or a loose concept, our new Laguna Beach Lead Designer Alejandra Adame will creatively find solutions to your taste and style. 

How do your gates hold up exposed to the elements?

With our years of experience, we have developed a precise method of choosing specialized lumber and finishes for each custom gate, along with a comprehensive yearly maintenance guide to ensure long-lasting durability.

Are your doors and gates pre-hung and finished?

Yes, we specialize in providing the best service for each custom order. If desired, we can provide slab only doors (no posts or door jamb). We can also provide a stain-grade door if you wish to use your own finish! We will meet your needs.

Do I need to do maintenance on my entry door?

If it is fully shaded, monthly cleaning as with your fine furniture is enough. A fine cotton cloth for dusting, and every 4-6 months a light application of high-end oil (applied from the cloth, never directly onto the wood) is sufficient.

If it faces direct sun exposure, it may require yearly maintenance on the outside face to aid longevity. Our Rustic 101 care guide is given to you with your custom order.

Can I have a lock on my pedestrian or driveway gate?

Yes, we provide various options for locks. Security is of utmost importance.

Rustic 101 – Limited Warranty and Liability Policy

At Rustic 101, we take pride in our handcrafted wood and iron products. We stand behind their quality and craftsmanship, which is why we offer a one-year limited warranty from the date of shipment. During this period, we guarantee our products will be free from material defects and workmanship issues that would render them unfit for ordinary and recommended use.

Limitations and Exclusions

This warranty does not cover the following conditions, which are considered normal characteristics or results of improper handling:

Inspection & Initial Claim Requirement

  • Customers must inspect their product upon delivery and report any visible defects or concerns within 72 hours. Failure to report within this timeframe may result in denied warranty claims.

Product Use, Installation & Environmental Restrictions

  1. Structural Modifications – Products that have been trimmed or altered to expose mortise and tenon joints or dowel joints.
  2. Unfinished Products – Items that are not properly sealed on all six sides (including top and bottom edges) within seven (7) days of delivery.
  3. Warping
    • Warping that does not exceed ¼ inch is not considered a defect.
    • Doors 1-3/8” thick, wider than 36”, or taller than 84” are excluded from warp-related claims.
    • Doors 1-¾” thick, wider than 42”, or taller than 96” are excluded from warp-related claims.
  4. Improper Installation – Any product installed incorrectly or contrary to Rustic 101’s installation guidelines.
  5. Environmental Exposure
    • Doors or gates installed in areas without proper overhang or excessive exposure to direct rain/sunlight (southern/western exposure) are not covered.
    • Exterior Use Restrictions
      • 1-3/8” thick doors are not covered when used as exterior doors.
      • Wood gates are subject to direct sunlight and rain exposure, making them ineligible for warranty coverage. Regular maintenance is required at least once a year to maintain durability.
  6. Unauthorized Repairs & Modifications – Any installation, repair, refinishing, or structural modification performed by third parties (including drilling additional holes or altering hardware, or product which has been trimmed to expose mortise and tenon joint or dowel joint) voids the warranty.
  7. External Damage – Issues caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, mishandling, vandalism, fire, floods, earthquakes, storms, or other acts of nature.

Natural Wood Variations & Wear

  1. Normal Wood Movement & Variations
    • Surface checks under 1/32” in width and 2” in length are natural occurrences.
    • Panel shrinkage up to 1/8” due to humidity or temperature changes.
    • Raised grain on wire-brushed surfaces and distress patterns.
    • Color and texture variations, even within the same item.
    • Placement, size, or quantity of knots in knotty wood species.
  2. Appearance & Finishing Changes
    • Variations in gloss level, texture, or appearance due to stain or paint application.
    • Factory finishes beyond three (3) months from the invoice date.
    • Discoloration, rusting, or deterioration of decorative metalwork (e.g., clavos, hinges, grilles, pullers).
  3. Wear and Tear – Normal deterioration over time, including mechanical fixtures, wood movement, and iron/steel aging. Preventive care is required to maintain longevity.

Wood Gates – Special Notice

Due to constant exposure to the elements, Rustic 101 does not warranty against wood checking or cracking after installation, as this process occurs naturally and does not affect the structural integrity of the gate. Filling cracks with epoxy is not recommended, as wood movement strengthens the structure.

  • Annual maintenance is required to uphold warranty coverage. Gates showing no maintenance after 12 months are excluded from warranty claims.

Glass Warranty

Rustic 101 sources glass components from third-party suppliers. Our one-year limited warranty applies from the date of delivery. Claims will follow the supplier’s warranty terms, but labor costs associated with exchange or repairs are not covered.

Steel & Iron Finishes

  • Hand-painted patinas and finishes are covered under a two-year limited warranty from the date of delivery.
  • Preventive maintenance is required every 12 months to maintain clear coat protection.

Installation, Shrinkage & Warping Claims

If shrinkage or warping occurs, Rustic 101 may delay repairs for 12 months to allow natural wood adjustments before determining necessary action.

Warranty Coverage & Claims

Rustic 101 reserves the right to:

  • Repair the product
  • Replace the product in its original condition
  • Refund the original purchase price

Rustic 101 is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages—including financial losses due to delayed installations, lost profits, or additional repair costs. This warranty strictly covers product repair or replacement but does not extend to labor, installation, or finishing costs, which remain the sole responsibility of the customer.

Commercial Use & Transferability

  • Products installed in commercial settings may experience accelerated wear and may have different warranty terms.
  • This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser of the product or structure into which it was installed.

Warranty Claim Process

To file a warranty claim, submit a written request within the warranty period before any repair work begins. Send the following details to Rustic 101:

Rustic 101 reserves the right to inspect any warranty claim within 30 days before proceeding.
